Our intrepid editor Mike Schoby and his lovely bride Dora the Explorer have been gallavanting about darkest Africa for weeks now, and fans of his neener-neener blog about their exploits have been worried about the lack of photos to illustrate their journey across South Africa by trains, planes and automobiles.

Finally a crossbow for shooting grouse on your bowhunt without wasting $20 carbon arrows. Alright, this would actually only kill baby grouse, but archery geeks (archerholics?) will dig it just the same. This one is actually made of silver and gold, and the enginerd with too much time on his hands actually built a pretty amazing little bow...6 pound draw, flaming arrow capability, and just a few inches long.

Eat mo’ mini-porkers! Javelina are Deeeelicious. We hear in the hunting world all the time about how Javelina, the delightful little collared peccary of the desert southwest, are not good to eat, just foul tempered skunky little creatures with a musky gland that makes them unpalatable.

Most of us have had an otherwise good gun dog that sometimes comes back with a conspicuous amount of feathers in their mouth…but no bird. Sooner or later they all seem to do it, at least when they’re young. This vid is a fantastic reminder for all who have seen the sheepish look on their dog’s face. Labs especially just can’t hide their guilt.

Letters are still coming in five months later commenting on the Dirty Dozen: Worst Deer Calibers Ever! story we ran in November…for which we were swamped with letters and web-hits . The feature was still a big talker at SHOT Show, where most in the gun industry loved the humor and agreed with at least some of the choices… and yet thought we were somewhat nuts to run the story.
